Kodak AIO Printer Drivers not allowing sleep

I recently started noticing that my MacMini isn't sleeping at the specified interval set in the System Pref's.

After extensive testing, I've narrowed it down to the Kodak AIO printer drivers (and/or associated software) that's keeping it awake. This occurs across all user profiles and resolves itself immediately upon removal of the Kodak AIO software and drivers.

Looking at the console log going back as far as last night the following sequence is repeated every 30 seconds.

I'm going to contact Kodak but any suggestions? Seems to be happening with recent versions of the driver, but I've not been able to determine at what point or update the Kodak printer drivers/software started exhibiting this behavior.

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Gonna give this a little bump.

After calling Kodak tonight, they're telling me it's a Bonjour problem. Is there any way to re-install Bonjour?

I am having the same problem on my MacBook pro. Wakes up from sleep all the time. Uninstalled the Kodak printer driver and it stopped. I thought it might be a problem pinging the scanner via wireless, so I reinstalled the printer using ethernet. Same behavior.

I think I'm having the same problem. Console reports that com.kodak.BonjourAgent[158] is running an "RTC Check" or a "CFNEtServiceResolveWithTimeout()" multiple times per second. I noticed my Mac Pro was not sleeping when expected, and I think this is the culprit.

What could this program possibly need to check several times per second?

Although it's a hassle, I've since uninstalled the drivers on both the MacMini and my MacBook Pro and only re-install when I need to print. Surprisingly, it's not all that often.

Hoping Lion will help resolve this issue.

This is a Kodak problem, not an Apple one. AIO printers often cause the computer to stay awake; sometimes it is due to poor programming and other times it is user error. An AIO printer that includes a FAX that is set to receive faxes must keep the computer awake otherwise the computer cannot receive an unscheduled fax. Well written drivers will allow the user to turn this feature off but that means faxes can only be received when you are expecting them. Even if the AIO doesn't include a fax it is often the cause of computer insomnia.

The solution: (1) before buying an AIO printer check reviews of Mac owners to see if there are reports of insomniac computers with that model. (2) there are shareware and freeware programs that can put a computer to sleep even when the built in energy saver won't. Go to macupdate and search on insomnia
