i press record, start playing at a certain volume, and everytime, no matter what, after 4 or 5 seconds the volume lowers and the track gets quieter. i would love to know how to fix this, please and thank you.

open Track "i"nfo and turn off the Automatic Level Control
that has been off the whole time. thanks for the info though, that's one thing i can check off the list.
like i said, i press record, start playing, and after a couple seconds the volume goes down or gets super compressed or something...i'm pulling my hair out over here
this might only be on laptops, i can't remember, but check System Prefs->Sound->input, if there's an Ambient Noise Reduction checkBox, make sure that it is turned off
when recording live guitar through an amp with imac's built in microphone, the track gets quieter after a couple seconds. how do i stop this?
