I needed to reinstall my mail app. after installing it off the dvd it was not an updated version. while trying to install the recommended combo update it said "this volume does not meet the requirements for this update" can anyone tell me what that means?

First open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder in the Applications folder, and run Verify Disk -- this is not permissions. What is the result?
