Can I use my freestanding iSight with new MacBook Pro?

I have an older free standing Isight back in Panther generation. Can I connect it to my MacBook Pro to use as a web cam to do filmography inventory of book collections, etc. It has a cord with a firewire end on it. How do I connect to Apple's new laptops and my new IMac now that the firwire inputs were all changed to usb? Is it capable of having a longer cord for moving around?

No one answered. I found help at OWC and bought a 9.99 adapter to accept my male 800 and input to my MacBookPro Firewire 800 input. I can also use this adapter to connect other firewire cables to transfer data. He who helps himself ,,;lm'm;
