I don't want Flash on my iPad, and I, like you am a consumer who can buy a device that supports Flash when I want one, as can you.

No one has ever suggested that using Flash should be mandatory.

But you seem to be proposing that having it on an iPad should be, or am I mistaking your zeal for something else?

You also screwed the quote up, attributing my words to Welshcloggy, please don't do that!

Buying something on the assumption that it will have what you want without bothering to check is not the fault of the manufacturer or any other 3rd party.

If a product does meet the consumer's needs, it is reasonable for the consumer to make a purchase. If that consumer subsequently determines that the product needs improvement, there is nothing wrong with the consumer asking that the improvement be implemented.

Yes, because having it on the iPad does not obligate you to use it. You will be free to ignore it and, if the implementation is done properly, you will even be able to block it with a mechanism comparable to "Click-to-Flash" that some Mac users utilize.

I ask if you are proposing that Flash should be mandatory:

Dreaming? please, I can read and we are done.

You could always go and buy a Blackberry Playbook. That does Flash!

Mind you, it doesn't allow you to do email, contacts or calendar from the device, I bet RIM don't tell anyone that in their advertising.

I for one am more than happy to be without Flash. It is outdated, power and processor intensive and destroys battery life on portable devices. HTML5 is a much better option, as well as being open source it is a far more efficient medium. It is worth mentioning that over half of video content on the web is now HMTL5 (53%) at the last count. Flash is on the way out.
