Using the USB connection from Fender Mustang III amp.
Garageband recognizes the connection but grays out the "Recording Level"
The end result even turning all volume to max is low input recording volume.
What is the problem? Is there a setting I am missing or is this a bug?

although i kind of doubt it, see if you can set the volume of the USB interface's input through the Audio MIDI Setup utility
HangTime thank you. There is no volume control setting in Audio MIDI preference using GB 11.
The volume controls on the amp is maxed and still almost no volume in GB.
This is so frustrating. One of the reasons I bought the Mustang III was the usb interface.

not GB's prefs, the app in your Utilities folder
The volume controls in the Audio MIDI Setup.app are grayed out.
i figured that was a long shot B-(>
the only suggestion i can think of is to go through the Fender's owner's manual and see what it has to say about using the USB interface

Maybe someone with a Mustang will chime in the discussion.
When using USB it's a digital to digital connection. The only adjustment available in GB is to use the track slider...if that doesn't provide enough level I would suggest posting on the Fender forum. You will find you are not alone.
It seems to me it's really made to use their FUSE software.
And AFAIK FUSE is a stand-alone app. Which really makes no sense as there is no viable reason I can think of to do so.
It should be able to work stand-alone and as a plug-in so one can control the sim inside the daw...including level.
What is DAW. The Fender guy mentioned that also, but did not explain. I am beginning to think this is a Fender issue.
DAW stands for Digital Audio Workstation, which is the fancy formal term for software packages like Garageband, Logic, ProTools, etc.
You can always use a mike and feed that into GB,worked good for me🙂 I have powermac G5 and am displeased Fender Fuse program don't work on my mac😢 So,I just edit without it,right on the amp!
Also,when you do a mixdown you may be able to adjust Guitar volume levels too.Have fun and making music is a learning experience.

Had the same problem.
I have the Mustang 4 amp and i just downloadad the latest firmware (1.8) to the amp.
And now you are able too crank up the usb volume by holding the exit button and turn on the volume knob (not the master knob).
Worked splendid for me. Good luck
thanks crazyeyez, i downloaded the firmware but when i tried to open it it said I did not have an application to open it,,,can you help,,,I too want to get the volume up on my mustang III with garage band

That is a firmware update for the amp. Your mac can't do anything with it your amp does. Check with fender on how to install a firmware update.
If your Mustang I-IV has the newest firmware (1.10 is current at this writing) you can hold down the EXIT button and turn up the Channel Volume knob (NOT the MASTER volume) and this will adjust the USB output volume. Works great in Garageband.
NOTE: The volume change is temporary, and it is not global. It puts the current patch into edit mode, so if you switch patches, you'll have to reset the volume. Hope this helps!
