On several computers over the last few years, all running the latest Windows 7, I've notice that the large "globe with arrows" icon on Apple Software Update has corrupted colors: http://tinypic.com/r/984j1c/7. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I've seen it on several computers with a wide range of hardware. Both ATI and Nvidia graphics cards.

I think I figured this out. A friend mentioned that it must be something with my setup, and it finally occurred to me that I usually turn of Aero transparency on my Windows boxes. So I tried turning it back on and installing Safari + Software Update, and it's fine.
I have the same problem on all PCs I've used 😠
I get this on Windows 7 too -- whether Aero is on or off.
Is transparency turn on as well?
Right click the desktop -> Personalize -> Window Color -> Check the "Enable Transparency" button
I think it's completely obnoxious that you'd have to turn that on to have the icon display correctly, but it worked for me until I quit using iTunes.
I am having this issue too. Transparency is on (and saved) but the icon in the panel still shows up in rainbow colours exactly as you have pictured above.
