Amen mate.

With the millions upon millions of people with iPhones, i'm not naive enough to even think that Apple would care about how many times I go to McDonalds or go to Work, or where I Work.. It's not like Apple don't tell you when Location Services are being used, there is a big shiny arrow on the top of the phone that gives it away.

IMO this is being blown WAY out of proportion.

There is no spyware on your iphone; who ever makes this claim is an idiot.

It is a small database of celltowers your phone has connected to.

If you encrypt your iphone back up no one can access this data.

It is not "sent" anywhere.

Oh, and this has been on the iphone since iOS 4 was released, this is not new.

people shouldn't make themselves crazy over this, because your information is stored on the internet, your Emails, text messages, and cell towers. You want privacy... sell your devices. Today people have all kind of information on their computers/Internet... banking, resumes, taxes, credit cards, social networks, com'on use common sense, be practical. You don't want to give up your location, then when an App ask to use your location say NO, and turn off Location Services in Settings.

@fredfromkillyleagh There's no way to disable this if you want to use iOs 4 and not break the EULA/TOS.

@Kiwiphone4 Your "small list" is anything but small. Data in there gets never deleted, so people can track your movements since when you started using your phone which means anybody having access to your device or backup has access to any place you went since you bought it.

@DavidK If you did what I think you did, I wouldn't annouce it here or you might loose your warranty

@Aepple Bad advice, what you wrote there, doesn't have any effect. Apple won't allow you to disable that function. As for your reasoning I don't agree. Two wrongs don't make a right and comparing apples with pears is not getting you anywhere anyway.

This has been on the iPhone since day one beginning with the original iPhone nearly 4 years ago.

This sort of stuff that the media is way late on and so far behind on brings out mental midgets/conspiracy theorists in droves while their whereabouts are captured on cameras and in other ways many times every day that is collected.
