I downloaded the the trial version MacKeeper from zeobit.com for a 1 month trial, after 2 days my activity limit was reached. I tried to buy it online

but was unable to do so; it stops at the checkout. So payed otherwise. Anyone experienced the same problem? Those wise guys at zeobit.com were unable to fix it, but anyhow I got a refund.

Generally that software is not recommended here, so be glad you got a refund; you really do not need that. Defragging is done on the fly by the OS with any file under 20 MB, so unless you're in to heavy video editing, there is not need to do that. If you do, then Disk Warrior is the app of choice here - I run it two or three times a year or so. For occasional cache cleaning (the operative word here is: occasional) you can try Onyx (free).

Thanks for the fast and helpful reply! So you saved my $ 39.80! I was interested of double installed items, so with the trial version which has done it's part. I have Onyx and CleanMyMac.

    Thanks again!

You're welcome - and, FWIW, you don't need cleanmymac either.......

Man I am seriously glad I decided to check the Apple Support Communities here on this topic.  Got a popup window this morning inviting me to get MacKeeper 911 and thought now where have I been this morning on the net to cause that to popup!!!!  Needless to say I have not installed it.

    Big thanks guys.

I have had Mackeeper since 2011 installed on 2 computers with no problems on a lifetime license.

Zeobit has partnered up with another company  and is no longer honoring past license agreements - no updates of any kind and functionality has been drastically reduced.

So it is best to not even bother installing the software anyways.

Thanks for that update. Are you able to provide further details or a link?
