I downloaded the the trial version MacKeeper from zeobit.com for a 1 month trial, after 2 days my activity limit was reached. I tried to buy it online

but was unable to do so; it stops at the checkout. So payed otherwise. Anyone experienced the same problem? Those wise guys at zeobit.com were unable to fix it, but anyhow I got a refund.

Generally that software is not recommended here, so be glad you got a refund; you really do not need that. Defragging is done on the fly by the OS with any file under 20 MB, so unless you're in to heavy video editing, there is not need to do that. If you do, then Disk Warrior is the app of choice here - I run it two or three times a year or so. For occasional cache cleaning (the operative word here is: occasional) you can try Onyx (free).

I have had Mackeeper since 2011 installed on 2 computers with no problems on a lifetime license.

Zeobit has partnered up with another company and is no longer honoring past license agreements - no updates of any kind and functionality has been drastically reduced.

So it is best to not even bother installing the software anyways.
