Can I put LimeWire music on my iPod Nano???

Hey, so I got an iPod Nano for Christmas, and I'm just learning how to use it. I understand how to import songs from cd's onto the iPod, but I have a question. Can I put the songs I downloaded from LimeWire onto my iPod?? I have a lot of songs, and I was really hoping I could. The songs are mp3's, but when I look at the details of the songs in iTunes, it says it's an MPEG. HELP?!

It is illegal to use a file sharing service such as limewire to share copyrighted material such as music. It violates this forum's terms of use to discuss illegal activities.

Please don't steal music.

Figure out where your music is stored and then transfer it from there to iTunes. Then just mirror your library from iTunes to the iPod.

You can drag and drop music from anywhere on your computer to the iTunes window to make iTunes add the music to its library. Once the music is registered in iTunes, you can sync it to the iPod.

You can also use the Add to Library... command to make iTunes search a folder for compatable files to add to the music library.

To be fair, any MP3 on your computer can be played on a Nano if it encoded properly. Once it's downloaded, it's all the same -- it's the use of the programs which is illegal. Once on your computer, it doesn't matter anyways

Just because the file came from LimeWire does not mean that it is copyrighted material, or that a copyright has been violated. There are artists out there that have put their entire music catalogs online for free, and encourage file sharing.

Some files are legal to share. Others are not. Know which is which.

Yes, there are some artists that do this. I would bet you a beer though that most music obtained through limewire does not fall into this category.

Regardless, look at my original post. I was specifically referring to copyrighted material.
