You have to export five separate QuickTime movies from iMovie and bring the exported files into iDVD, or finalize the projects and bring them into iDVD individually from the media browser.
In iDVD's menu select Project>Add Movie. A new movie button will appear in the iDVD window. Now drag a movie from iDVD's Media Browser (Movies tab) onto the button. Continue adding buttons and movies as desired.
As Tom indicated, if you have exported your movies using "Export using QuickTime" from iMovie's Share menu item (rather than Share>Media Browser), you can drag these from their location to the new buttons you've inserted in iDVD.

Just to add... it is easier to use SHARE/ TO MEDIA BROWSER rather than SHARE/TO iDVD when you want to put multiple movies on a DVD. In iDVD, you access the Media Browser via a button at the bottom right of the window.
Where do the files get stored when you use the Share / To Media Browser method? In case I need to track it down for deleting...
When using Share>Media Browser the exported movie is saved in the project's package contents folder. In Finder, go to your User (Home) folder Movies/iMovie Projects. Right-click (or control-click) on the project name and select "Show Package Contents" - the movie will be in the Movies folder. High definition movies will be named either 720p.mov or 1080p.mov, whereas Large and Medium will be named Large.m4v and Medium.m4v respectively. All these files will be in the H.264 format.
Note that if you are using an external drive for your projects, the projects are located at the top level of the drive in the folder iMovie Projects. Follow the same procedure as I've described above to locate exported movies.
If you wish to use these exported movies elsewhere, such as playing through a media player, it's best to copy and paste to your preferred location (for example, Desktop or external portable drive). It's important not to move or otherwise disturb files in package contents folders - although it's probably safe to delete any exported movies - just don't delete the whole project!

I have followed John Cogdell's advice of 24/4/11 but got a box headed Errors in Project telling me that `There were errors during the project validation that have to be fixed before burning the project'. I have no idea what these errors could be as everything had worked well prior to that. Has anyone got any ideas?
I'm trying to complete an important (voluntary community) project on renewable energy for a launch and need to get my multiple 4 minute videos onto one DVD....
