Sounds like you heavy in the game so maybe the Apogee Ensemble. I use the Apogee Duet, Duet 2 comes out in a few weeks. The Duet is perfect for portability and is FireWire powered. Apogee sound quality is unbeatable

As a happy owner of a new MBPro, I'm hoping that Thunderbolt interfaces are not too far off.

Apogee was the first to announce Thunderbolt support coming soon.

Take it back and pre order Duet 2, I was @ Musik Messe 2011 in Frankfurt Germany a few weeks ago and played with the new Duet 2 and its amazing! Also I asked the rep there why the switch to USB and the stated that USB 2.0 is actually faster that firewire 400. So I would except Apogee's highend interfaces to support Thunderbolt.

@tharealdi It's OK, the Duet is more than enough for my needs right now, it is stunning. Might upgrade in the future though, once the Duet 2 has gone through a few iterations etc.

Your right, being the new Duet doubled it's inputs. The new ensemble coming out this spring most likely with include more. But daisy chaining would increase inputs

Actually, I just rang the shop, and they are willing to take my Duet back and give me store credit towards the Duet 2 when it is available. I will just need to add £100 lol  ...so all cool :O)

The Apogee stuff is great .... I have used a Duet in the studio for years. But for LOTS of inputs and outputs for live situations, plus stability, I highly recommend you look at MOTU's stuff. You could set up as many inputs you need by grouping boxes. I use an Ultralite for live gigging and it has never let me down. Very flexible bussing and routing, but you have to spend time to learn the deeper capabilities.

Check MOTU website for the lineup, and then narrow by the I/O you need.

Another vote for MOTU here.   They are also among the lowest latency interfaces out there.

+1 for MOTU.  Latency is very low and my Ultralite MK3 has never, ever failed me at a rehearsal or live gig in the past 18 months that I've had it.

Just sold my Apogee DUET and bought an RME Babyface (USB)... This thing is has the quickest drivers I've used on a MacbookPro.. and it sounds amazing!! Definitely worth a look.
