I'm about to purchase a MacBook and, as I was checking the product's features, I read about its battery lasting 1000 charges. I'd like to know what happens to the battery after that; if I should replace it -- is it possible? -- or if I should get a new MacBook.

I believe the battery lasts 1000 charges and then will not hold its charge anymore, and you have to keep the computer plugged into the mains. You can buy replacement batteries, and they cost different amounts from different sources, e.g Ebay and Apple 🙂.

To give you some idea of how long 1000 charge cycles is in real terms, my MacBook is exactly two years old and the battery has 64 cycles on it. At that rate, a battery with 1000 cycle life should last for over 30 years. In other words, the battery is designed to last for the entire life of the computer.

My Macbook pro is 12 months old and the battery has 366 cycles according to Coconut Battery so I think 3 years is realistic.
what is meant by charge cycles? cause mine increases it charge cycle by 1 EVERY TIME i charge it.

Seriously? Yikes, that's a lot of charge cycles in two months. It would be far, far better for your battery if you did NOT unplug it from the AC when it is fully charged. Leave it plugged in when near an AC outlet, unplug it when you need to use it away from power.

Nope, but constantly constantly charging and discharging it will.
but i use it everyday. how can i reduce the possibility of increasing my charge cycle? and my battery health is now 90% and i have only used it for 2 months
Do you need the portability every day? Or are you working where AC power is available?

You certainly don't NEED to keep it attached to AC power when it is shut down, but it will not harm the battery if it is. I'm guessing you are now charging to 100% and then discharging to a low percentage, and then repeating the procedure, yes?
