yes, its for real. I use mobile me all the time and i have heard about the tracking by my iphones, we have three. I just want to know if I can use it. I have installed this type of software on our blackberrys, but it uses up the battery very fast. I like to do things the way apple has designed it. we are very happy with the way apple does things
You have heard an over dramatic, overblown production about something that is done on Androids and other phones.
Information is collected for marketing purposes. no one is watching your comings and goings.
Mobileme does not show where you have been. It shows where you are.
There are likely apps that will do this.

The above will track where it has 'been' but if you want to just use a real time tracking (for lack of a better word) to find a Missing / Lost iPhone then you want to use Find my iPhone.

Did you happen to note the date on the article you referenced and the post you replied to?
You're replying to a two and a half year old thread with an equally old article. Apple stopped the location tracking mentioned in that article about two years ago.

1. This is a 2 and a half year old thread. Whatever happened then is very likely no longer valid.
iOS is currently in verison 6.1.3 and awaiting iOS 7 release. So whatever happened in iOS 4 is hardly relevant any more.
To begin with, you're wrong. This was proven wrong several years ago. If you bothered looking at the date stamps on these posts, you would realize that you're resurrecting a thread that's beed dead for almost 2 1/2 years.
As for your claim to represent ars, You may want to re-think that claim. Citing a 2 1/2 year old article that's already been proven wrong doesn't make any of you look very smart.
