I have a brand new iMac 27" running in 10.6.7 with a second dysplay (LG Flatron w2343t). i can't choose full HD resolution on my external dysplay in mac osx, but in boot camp (windows xp sp3) i can put it in full hd (1920x1080). The external display is connected with the mini-dvi to vga cable. Can someone help me please!

VGA doesn't support full HD.
Only DVI and HDMI do.
Your LG monitor has DVI ports, so you will need this cable for your new iMac:

And a DVI male cable for the attachment to the Apple cable, and whatever connector that is DVI on the monitor it should fit in the monitor's port.
In the w2343t Users Manual page A7 LG Says:
"For Apple Macintosh use, a separate plug adapter is needed to change the 15 pin high density (3 row) D-sub VGA connector on the supplied cable to a15pin 2 row connector."
Maybe it's a "must use". Have you tried to use a DVI cable?

Maybe this monitor just emulates HD on Windows. I have seen this happen in a AOC monitor.
I was able to put the resolution in 1920x1080 with my 17" macbook pro on leopard
If the monitor says in the specs 1600 x 900, then it can't really do 1920 x 1080, and it isn't full HD.
Maybe it is sending a false signal to the Mac.
