Divx player for iPad

Hi. I'm looking to buy an iPad mainly for emails, Youtube, basic news/weather/tech/gasget websites and...the all important Divx files. i mainly have .avi files (with some .mkv files as well). my questions are:

1. how do i transfer those files to my iPad? ( or can i connect my portable hard drive to the ipad via some kind of adaptor and then watch those files that way? )

2. what really good Divx or AVI player can you recommend for the iPad? ( i currently have an Android tablet and 3 out of 5 Divx player apps hasn't work so far. will an ipad player guarantee to work? any recommendatins or advice please)

Thanks.

Most .avi files are DivX files. As I said, I have yet to find an .avi/DivX file that CineXPlayer couldn't play.

I doubt the developers can guarantee it will play every DivX file as there are millions and millions of them, so it would be impossible to test them all, and someone could easily create a mal-formed DivX file.

I don't know about mkv files as I don't use that format.

Read the reviews of CineXPlayer on the AppStore.

Sorry i havn't read the reviews yet as i havn't installed iTines yet. but i have seen one or two videos of it. it looks really good. stupid question though:

is there a file size limit to transferring an .avi or .mkv file to the iPad for the Cinexplayer?

can you create folders on the Cinexplayer?

e.g. my Transformers file is divided into 3 parts. i can create a "Transformers folder" and then put those 3 files into it?

It does not require you to sync any media to your iPad. It is streamed from your computer to your iPad over wifi. Uhm, never really considered screenshots as an "important" or even "needed" feature of a video player. You can screencap using the iOS native screenshot feature. You can set stuff like the playback resolution, the bitrate, etc. http://www.inmethod.com/air-video/

I also don't beleive in converting files. it takes a lot of ones time. i would rather buy an Android device which supports Divx or an iPad with really good softwares/apps to play my Divx/AVI files.

What i don't like about Android devices is that most still don't support Divx and there are not enough Divx players unlike in iTunes.
