What does the handset with an arrow symbol mean at the top left of screen mean?

Means call forwarding is on: Settings>Phone>Call Forwarding>On/Off.

I don't have call forwarding set up on my phone but still had the handset with an arrow going outwards at the top.

I went to call forwarding setting on the phone to verify that it's turned off and the symbol has disappeared on its own.

We had the same problem. Go into Settings->phone->Call forwarding and switch it on and off. That seemed to clear it for us.

I have the same problem every time I go into settings/ then call forwarding its off but when I check to see if its on or off it disappears and then reappears the very next day and when it is showing its showing right next to my Wifi and a lot of the times when I go into my mail icon or my music icon it goes drown to the other side then it's in front of my battery life and then it goes back next to the Wifi and call forwarding is off so why dose it keeping coming back the next day when call forwarding is turned off

I have the same but the call forwarding is off but it's shown and when I have rang my number from my mums phone it rings ok even though its apparently set for call forwarding

Any ideas how to fix

The icon means that the call forwarding is active on your phone.

If you haven't activated call forwarding and the icon still appears on top of your screen then you can resolve it in two ways;

1. Go to Settings -> Phone -> Call Forwarding and check that it is off, or

2. Restart your phone

im currently using a secondary voicemail service called YouMail, will this affect my incoming calls in any nature ?

I too was wondering and confused . On my iPhone 7 the handset with an arrow doesn't mean call forwarding , it means that I called that number .

Going to the Call forwarding settings cleared the phone with arrow icon. It was not turned on. It just appeared to be a bug.
