Yes, you can view exactly what is on the screen of your iPad 2 with this adaptor.

Works great! Just need this adaptor and an HDMI cable and you are ready to go.
Is there any HDMI adaptor as well? would you recommend that? and if yes does it "enhances" the picture or photo on your TV?
* my TV supports full HD!!!
That adaptor is the HDMI adaptor....
It plays movies at 720p
Does this Adaptor work on IPad 1
Yes it does.
BUT...
On the iPad 1 it only allows you to watch a video file on the HDTV.
On the iPad 2 you get mirroring, everything you see on the iPad 2 screen, you also see on the HDTV.
...for photos, videos et al?
would you recommend a 3rd-party HDMI cable for the ipad 2?
or a 1st-party one is still recommended?
Yes the iPad two shows everything
There is no 1st party HDMI cable, Apple doesn't make them.
I am trying to show a rented HD film that was downloaded from iTunes to my iPad2. I am using the Videos App on my iPad2. My iPad2 is connected to my new Sony Bravia HD TV via Apple's HDMI addapter and an HDMI cable. The movie will run just fine on my iPad2. But when trying to show it on my large screen HD TV, it will run for a minute or two then stops and displays an error message like "no signal... check external input...". In about a minute the video return without the audio. I have used two different HDMI cables with no success. Has anyone else had this problem ? Is Apple aware of this problem ?
But will the iPad 2 show those photos and videos in full screen and not the odd 4:3 ratio?
videos are displayed in 16:9 widescreen (if the video is in fact a widescreen video). Photos are displayed 4:3.
My videos from iTunes are only shown in a 4:3 ratio and do not fill the whole screen. Is there anything wrong in my settings, either the tv settings or the iPad 2 settings?
I have never had a problem like that. I have watched a few rented movies via my iPad on the bigscreen.
Have you tried plugging the HDMI cable into a different HDMI port on your Sony?
Thanks for the advice, it worked partially. Some from itunes purchased items are still shown in 4:3 but others are now shown in 16:9. It might be connected to the settings of the individual items.
I'm having the same problem with good video and no audio but my set up is slightly different. I have the iPad2 with ios5 and the AV adapter with HDMI cable is plugged into a Bose hub. I get video just fine, but the audio can only be heard on the iPad2 and not on the speaker system like all the other devices plugged into the hub.
In addition, my video settings screen doesn't look like the image in your reply to soleiman. I have 'home sharing' but no 'TV out' section. Does that only show up when you are directly connected to a TV? Do I have some missing software? Do I need separate cables for audio?
