Rosetta needed for Epson Stylus TX121 Printer

Recently I bought Epson Stylus TX121 Printer. When I tired to install the printer driver, my Macbook Pro says I need to install Rosetta. My SW is currently upgraded to Mac OS X 10.6.7. What do I need to do to get Rosetta installed? Does this mean I need to buy Snow Leopard?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

As Csound1 pointed out, 10.6.7 is Snow Leopard. You should have been offerred the opportunity to automatically download and install Rosetta when you received the message that you needed it. In any event, you should be able to use the install disk.

Rosetta is the software that will allow Snow Leopard to run PowerPC (PPC) code. The most likely reason you need to install Rosetta is that the software installer still uses the old PPC code. The printer drivers for the TX121 are most likely Intel native.

Thanks Csound1. My Macbook Pro came with pre-installed SW so I don't have any physical installation disc. All along I have been upgrading my SW when I was prompted for Update. The most recent SW update was when I was prompted to update to Mac OS X 10.6.7 I accepted the prompt. Yet I didn't see Rosetta being installed. Question now is I don't have physical installation disc, how do I get Rosetta installed?

Hope above makes sense.

Hello Csound1,

After replying to your mail, I went into below URL

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/27987.html

and found this instruction:-

If your computer is connected to the Internet:

Click the Install button in the Rosetta dialog. Rosetta will be downloaded and installed for you

But where can I locate the "install button in the Rosetta dialog"?

Every Mac sold has the OS preinstalled, and every Mac comes with the installation disk set. If you purchased your MacBook Pro new, then unless Apple's factory made a packing mistake, the MBP came with a disk set. Look more carefully through the packaging; the disks should be in a white sleeve/thin box along with the small "getting started" manual.

If you purchased the Mac used or from a dealer and it was opened stock, contact the seller and demand a disk set. If you can't get one from the seller, or you lost or inadvertently threw away the disk set, call Apple tech support and they can sell you a disk set for a reasonable fee. You really need to have an installation disk set, for many reasons.

Regards.

I've been using Epson printers for years and currently have an older model Photo RX620 hooked up to my Mac with OSX 10.6.7. I found that the old printer driver (which required Rosetta) still worked but proved to be unnecessary as the print & fax application in system preferences was much more efficient. Epson's old scanner driver did not work with the new OSX update but again, there's a scan option in print & fax which works fine, as does Image Capture in your Utilities Folder. Bottom line, if you have the latest version of Epson's printer drivers downloaded from Mac OSC updates you don't need the sofware disks that came with your Epson printer as they're probably out of date already.
