I have been trying unsuccessfully to pair my recently acquired Qstarz Bluetooth GPS (BT-Q818XT) with my iPad2. However, no amount of tries following the directions has allowed the iPad2 to establish a Bluetooth connection. I am new to the world of the iPad2, and would love to get it functioning as a moving map in one of my aviation apps.
Anyone who has a suggestion, your help would be greatly appreciated.

A number of other users have asked about connecting a bluetooth GPS to an iPad and the general response has been it can't be done. You might try a search on "bluetooth GPS iPad" to see it you can find these older posts.
You are in some luck. Google "GNS 5870 MFI". It is a Bluetooth GPS that works with iPad. Cost $99.99 on most sites. There is also a product called "Bad Elf" that connects to the docking pins that gives GPS functionality to the iPad. I own neither so can't vouch for them but there are quite a few reviews for both products. Good luck!

Thanks. I did that after posting my inquiry. It was then that similar postings popped up on their site and after clicking on several, I discovered that apparently it is futile.

Yeah. Supposedly it is for headsets only. Stupid. They could change that if we yell loud enough. :P
I sent the Qstarz bluetooth back to Amazon for one that is iPad2 compatible. Works great. Problem solved. Thanks for your suggestion.
