Mar 19, 2012 4:17 PM in response to tracey113by rdelagarza,I have the same issue do you know if it's a software problem or is hardware?

Mar 20, 2012 12:47 AM in response to rdelagarzaby tracey113,they say it's a software problem, hence not covered by insurance and my phone is over a year old so not covered by the apple warranty.
But I've just found a really useful tip on here on how to create a virtual home button.
Go to settings > general> assessibility> assistive touch..... turn it on and you have a home button that makes your phone useable again !!! yay hope this help

Mar 20, 2012 1:23 PM in response to tracey113by hb091666,That's great! I'm definitely going to use that option as a backup. I just found the following advice on a Youtube video about this problem and it seemed to be quite well received: "It’s actually a very simple process to recalibrate your Home button; simply open a stock iOS app (Weather, Stocks, Clock, etc.). Once the app is open, press your iPhone’s power button until the ‘slide to power off’ screen appears. From that screen, press and hold your Home button until iOS force quits the stock app you have open." lvlrdeepak

Mar 29, 2012 11:10 AM in response to mrdanangby Philippenyc,I have the same problem. Apple replaced the phone, and now the new phone has the same issue. They want me to pay $149 to get it repaired, and i find that outrageous. There is a problem with some of these phones, and apple needs to act like the company it is, and fix them. Period. It's a sad joke. Maybe they have gotten too arrogant....

Mar 29, 2012 9:10 PM in response to mrdanangby AceNeerav, its surprising that no one from the blogosphere is taking note of this issue. it seems they all love apple so much that they are letting it get spoilt.
my replaced iphone has another problem of getting hot too much while using apps like maps, small games, messengers, skype.

Mar 29, 2012 10:11 PM in response to hb091666by sethfromsd,@hb091666 that worked awesome for me, thank you very much for pasting that here.
And now for another gripe... why on earth would this forum kick you back to the home page after signing in, so that you have to find the thread and the page all over again?
And where the heck do they hide the "this fixed my issue button"?

Mar 29, 2012 11:26 PM in response to AceNeeravby lightmyfire,I had the button problem and I followed the advice in older posts in this forum. It was in incredibly simple fix. The post about putting your power cable in the bottom of the phone and lifting slightly fixed my problem about a month ago. I had to do that twice however. Since then no problems. Additionally I cleaned the bottom of the phone with a cotton bud. After 18 months it probably needed a clean. Also I changed the accessibility settings in General Settings. I turned Assistive Touch on and I use that a lot now.
My advice is that will all these types of devices, that mechanical things do wear out. That is why I like to use Accessibility because I'm now using software.
