Q: iPhone 4 Home Button not working properly

I had software related issues

I calibrated my iPhone home button and everything working just fine.

that worked     it got better when i did the IOS upgrade as well but this fixed what seam to be the last little bit.

Someone actually reverse engineered the code and then searched through the original line by line.  Using that trick doesn't "calibrate" the home button.  It's complete BS.  It just shuts down the app.  However, this can cause an increase in home button responsiveness because there's one less thing  for the iPod or iPhone to deal with.

As long as it makes my home button to work again I don't care about the rest

My button is just getting worse despite following all of the suggestions.  I wish Apple would let Sony make the ******* phone because this problem wouldn't exist.

Gays solving home button problem is very easy just follow the steps:

1- connent ur iphone4 by the charging cable

2- by ur finger push the cable little up then press the home button

3- now its working propley

Seems like not justs small amount of people got this issue.

The home button is the main button that we have to use, and now everyone have problem.

I think apple should recall the iphone 4, or replace the unit to iphone 4s

Just wondering...how many of us with a bad home button have greasy skin?  By greasy I mean, how many of us get constantly touch out face during the day and end up with greasy fingertips?

Had my iPhone 4 a year and a half. Look after it. In great condition.

Home button started failing to react to me pressing it some weeks ago.

Found this thread today. Tried the calibration. Didn't work.

Noticed somebody mentioned moisture. Remembered I'd worked in warm/wet weather a couple of times and know the phone will have encountered moisture in my pocket but didn't worry as considered the iPhone a sealed unit.

But this drew me to the idea that the home button has become unresponsive due to moisture. So the solution that made sense to me was the guy who suggested Isopropyl Alcohol. It is used in electronics. It soaks up moisture and evaporates. Just now I found some at work, dripped two or three drops into home button then sat pressing it for a few minutes then left it for ten minutes.

Already I feel the sensitivity has returned to my home button.

It now takes just the slightest touch again to react.

Google it. Small bottle costs about three pounds. It's found around electronics and in some offices.

I second the alcohol solution. I used a q-tip and really worked it in, then let it sit and evaporate before trying it. Works like a charm.
