Dec 4, 2012 9:09 AM in response to Tammy169by waynefd,Same intermittant home button problem on my iphone 4. Blowing into the charge/sync port worked for me! I blew hard and fast from a half inch away. Everything works again. I also reboot the phone daily.

Dec 5, 2012 2:26 PM in response to mrdanangby Gnomonster,At the beggining after doing the calibrating trick opening the app and force quitting it with the Home Button seemed to had worked but it didn't. Instead, a drop of alcohol on the Home Button, pressing a few times together with blowing at it, and a couple of (kinda hard) slaps on my hand with the phone helped. Now seems to work fine. Just use your common sense when putting alcohol on your phone... be delicate.

Dec 27, 2012 12:22 AM in response to mrdanangby VanDerHaks,Thank You All!!!
Alcohol (a lot more than 2 drops).
I put a q tip in alcohol and used it to repeatedly press around the home button holding it at various angles, so that the alcohol would drip into the crack opened by pressing that specific side of the button. Tried it several times using more alcohol each time. It was gettign better each time, so I kept doing it. Seems to be workign perfectly now!
I have NEVER made a post to a discussion group of any kind before, but if this can help you feel as good as I do right now, I am happy to share the love!!!

Jan 6, 2013 8:41 AM in response to mrdanangby AceNeerav,I got an update. I got a 2nd replacement for my iphone 4 for the home button issue and the new piece doesnt have the upper portion of the home button respoding since day 1. Is been 3 months i have been using it and now apple says they can only give me yet nother iphone 4 and not an upgrade. I fought with them on phone and asked them to give me their corporate address so that i can send them a notice from the Indian consumer court.
I guess what i am gonna do is keep this phone boeying the warran even when the home button fails completely. Ill keep it till apple finally accepts the fault and provides a replacement even beyond warranty. I guess this is the best thing i can do with this CRAP OF A PHONE.
If i keep on selling it off in the 2nd hand market for like 1/3rd the price i buy it at ($750) i guess i would be loosing far more money in each upgrade than i would be gaining features with a newer iphone.

Jan 29, 2013 9:08 AM in response to mrdanangby teharatats,Hi All -my iPhone 4 home button seemed to be failing. Tried shutting down and reboot - SOMETIMES helped - was starting to watch YouTube tutorials on replacing the button! Then in another of these forums, was advised to go to settings and activate "Assistive Touch" in "Accessibility - puts a translucent "home" button on screen. That would have been ok as I am leaving on a trip next week and need this working!
Then delved further and gently pushed charger plug upward a few times and then blew into the slot - lint and a tiny piece of tissue came out! To make sure I blew air in from my PC tool kit - more crud. I have read of flushing with a bit of alcohol and one application of water! I advise that person to run down and buy a lottery ticket. Now.
Mechanical failure of that high-priority item seemed a fluke - glad I looked here (and there). All's well and see you on Twitter @tweedyBard.

Jan 30, 2013 5:42 PM in response to mrdanangby rlima,I figured out the issue with my iPhone and think you guys having the home button issue might benefit.
I just made a YouTube video on how to fix it. If it works for you please leave a comment and like!
You will need an iPhone tool for opening up the iPhone. But don't worry, you just need to take the back off, nothing more. It's simple and safe.
