Proxy authentication isn't working in 4.3.2

We are using a few iPads in our Enterprise enviroment.

We use a proxy to browse te web.

We have set the proxy in our wireless configuration and enabled the user & password.

However when we open Safari it keeps asking for our user & password. If we enter it we get a part of the site but then again it asks for the authentication again.

We have been testing this on an iPad with 4.3.2 & iPhone with 4.3.2

Both have the same problem.

Older iOS versions don't have any problems with the proxy and are working fine.

After some more testing with 3 iPads with following OS, 4.2.1 & 4.3.2 & 4.3.3

We came to the conclusion that the credentials filled in for the manual proxy authentication are not working at all on 4.3.2 & 4.3.3

On 4.2.1 it works fine and the iPad is sending the filled in credentials to the proxy.

On 4.3.2 & 4.3.3 we get asked to fill in the credentials as soon as we browse any url instead of using the ones filled in for the Http Proxy.

I hope Apple is resolving this issue as soon as possible as we have been trying to help our customers as soon as possible.

I have made a ticket with Apple about this problem.

They have asked my loads of questions wich had nothing to do with the issue.

I answered them all but at the end they said the engineering team was aware of the issue.

I also had the feeling when they called me they were not going to fix this issue in this iOS because they are working hard to get iOS 5 stable and ready.

Too bad we have about 40 iPads with this problem atm 😟

I recommend all my clients to use 3G instead of our WiFi at work and login through SSL VPN.

The request for "Authentication for HTTPS proxy" has been popping up on my iPad at work ever since I updated to iOS 5.

Today I decided to time the intervals in which it pops up- every 12 seconds, regardless of whether I input the relevant username and password or not.

As you can imagine this becomes incredibly infuriating and un productive.

If I am not the only person having this sort of problem, can Apple please look in to addressing this or at least offer some kind of explanation as to why it keeps happening and whether or not it will be fixed in the near future?

Coming very close to throwing a lovely piece of technology at the wall in frustration.

I also have this issue also and is a real pain for our users. Is anyone close to resolving it?

Originally it would keep prompting for a username and password even if what you entered the first time is correct. We got round this problem by changing the port from the normal 8080 traffic to 8083 (first spare port). This stopped the issue of it keep prompting even if the details are correct. Not sure of the details of this.

Now it just prompts us once when the device is turned on (Even though we have entered details under the proxy settings). It remembers this for the session, so until the session timesout (which is currently set to 2 hours).

Would be nice if the iPad actually used the settings you entered under the proxy.

I also have this issue. This happens on my iPhone 4 now with iOS 5.1. I insalled a profile on it using iPhone configuration utility, where I set up my corporate WiFi network and proxy server, including proxy user and password. It keeps asking for user/password and it does it several times. This also repeats every few hours, even if I don't leave the WiFi range.

Interestingly I have the same issue when I use iTunes on my Win XP laptop, with a wired LAN connection, but the same proxy server. There it also tells me my credentials are incorrect (even though I'm sure they are) and it finally always works, after I type it 4-5 times.
