Well according to the manuel, the arrow icon appears when you are playing a song. However, I have another type of arrow, shaped like an arrowhead, on my status bar. The arrowhead is pointing to the one o'clock position, and now is appearing next to the battery icon, as I have no other app currently running.
Any ideas what this arrowhead icon means?

Play button? What app are you in or do you have running?
If an app like the iPod or Pandora radio is running in the background the arrow indicates that the app is currently running.
I was playing music so the play icon was showing, but next to it an arrowhead is appearing. So I shut off the music, which makes the play icon disappear but the arrowhead, pointing to the one o'clock position, is still there. Besides being on Safari nothing else is running?
I just noticed the same arrow and have Pandora on. Now I know what the arrow is for... Thanks!
the arrowhead is used to represent an app currently using location data.
yep, i see that. but i still don't quite get the reference to a play arrow.
Yeah... you are correct and I was just getting ready to edit my post ...not sure about the play button reference either.
yep, thats it.
if you go to settings > location services, you will see a list of apps with location services enabled. those currently connected will have that icon beside the ON switch.
Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you! I appreciate everyones help!!!
Yes, the arrowhead means it the app is using location services. You see this with maps and some apps such as twitter clients that allow you to post your location with tweets. Something is currently using location data, maybe maps is open in the background and it is trying to determine your location. a reboot of the device will make it go away.
The blue arrowhead means that location services are "on" and that the application is running and using it. Be advised you are using more battery power with in "on".
