Hi. This may be really simple, but an FX fellow did some work for me and sent me back the work as a hi-res tiff sequence. What is the best way to import that into Final Cut Pro so that I can use it in my timeline? Thanks!

You can use QuickTime Player 7 to convert it into a clip. Fle > Open Image Sequence.
Set it up to use the same codec as the rest of your footage.
you can also use Compressor to convert image sequences, This gives you the ability to use Qmaster if you have it set up.
multi-cores = faster job speed.

Not as preferably as the previous answers but also an option:
Set your still/freeze duration in 'User Prefs' to 1 frame and import the Tiff Sequence folder into FCP.
Drag the bin directly into the timeline and render
but if you use Neil's method, fcp may choke on the large number of files. If you do use Neils' method, I would suggest that you do it in a seperate project and export using current settings and bring that file into your main project.
Since I'm running OSX 10.6.7 I have Quicktime X and I tried installing Quicktime Pro but I couldn't. How are we supposed to do this with Quicktime Pro's Open Image Sequence?
See if Quicktime Pro 7 is installed in your Utilities folder.
In the Finder, go to the menu Go > Utilities and look for an app labled Quicktime Player 7.app.
That is Quicktime Pro.

It's not. I tried downloading it from Apple and couldn't install it because QT X is installed (which it was automatically w/ 10.6). I have the latest Final Cut Studio installed as well which I thought included QT Pro.
If I remember correctly, it's an optional install on your OS install disk. I'll check when I get into the office later today.
Michael is correct. It's in Optional Installs on your Snow Leopard install disc.
Just to be clear... I downloaded Quicktime Pro 7 ran the installer and it said that it couldn't be installed because I had QT X.
I also just ran the optional install on the SL disk and it "installed" but when I run QT it's still version 10 and there is no QT in the utilities folder.... so really, it didn't install.
Well, when I did the install on my MBP I used the retail SL disk and it didn't work as I mentioned, but when I tried again with the MBP SL disk it worked. Strange.
But then I ran into another problem... when I first opened QT 7 I tested out the Image Sequence by "shift slecting" all the files I wanted as a sequence. Worked fine. Then, I did it again I couldn't select multiple images to open as a sequence... if I shift-select a range it just clicks on the last file individually and if I open-apple-shift same thing... so now I have it but I can't select multiple files!
Where did you install it? You cannot use the Apple web site QT 7 installer. Did you do a finder search on your computer? It must be there or it was not installed properly.
You don't need to Shift-select anything. Use Open Image Sequence. Select the first sequentially number image and it will ask you to set a frame rate. I don't know where you are so I don't know what you should set, either 25 or 29.97.
Just did the optional install on my macrpro and it installed Quicktime Player 7 in the applications: utiltiies folder.
