Hi,
since a few days i got a problem:
the little red badges on the top right corner of the app icons -> they are gone!
Even the badge on the App Store is gone!
I dont know how to restore them.
- iOS 4.3.2
- no Jailbreak
- Yes already Rebooted the device!
- Windows 7 x64 SP1
- iTunes 10.2.2.12
- Provider:Telekom.de
Please help me ^_^

The little red badges are push notifications alert you to new information, even when the app isn’t running. Notifications vary by app, but may include text or sound alerts, and a numbered badge on the app icon on the Home screen. For example, a red badge on the App Store icon indicates you have an app update available. Once you install the update, the badge disappears. A badge on the Mail icon indicates unread mail. When you read the messages, the badge disappears.

Or, if you prefer, look under "Benachrichtigungen" on page 226 in the iPhone benutzerhandbuch
i know for what they are and how to use them.
but they dont appear any longer! I have one update in the appstore for example but the icon on the home screen does not show anything!
i'm using a rss reader app: no longer the badge with the unread message count!

ehhhm: big bug in the reply system here??? I tryed to reply to Jims message. I just got a error and tryed it some times.. then i saw that i was logged in as "Jim VanLeeuwen"???!!
I was able to open the profile etc. I just signed out and did not changed anything and singed in with my account but thats not good for the securit 🙂

anyhow i get it working that the badge on the appstore stays where it should. But before that it just disappeared a few secs after closing the app-store!
- Open appstore
- Found update
- Closed Appstore -> Badge was there!
- Waited 1-2 sec -> badge was no longer visible
now it shows the badge the whole time but with my RSS-Reader app (MobileRSS) it shows no badges!
Did you ever solve the App Store app not showing a badge? I get the same problem all of a sudden with iOS5.
no sorry. It just worked correctly again one day.
If you are using iOS 5 check Settings>Notifications>Mail (example)>Badge App Icon>ON
I HAVE 1OS5 yet I dont have that option when I look at SETTINGS -> APP STORE. You do???
What exactly is it you are trying to do? Do you have the app store icon on your home screen?
Yes I have the app. I no longer get badges showing the number of apps needing updates on the APP STORE icon.
Since I;ve had an iPhone 5 I get no red badge icon for App store updates OR iPhone software updates. It's really annoying. This has been like this for over a year now. And no, I don't have automatic app updates enabled.
Any ideas anyone?
