How can I open an encrypted PDF file on the iPhone?

How can I open a password encrypted PDF file on the iPhone 4? The PDF file is one created on a MacBook then emailed out. I am able to open and read the PDF file (after enterring the correct password) on both the MacBook and a Windows Vista PC. However, when I try to open the PDF file on my iPhone Mail message all I get is a blank square.
