I can't work out what it's supposed to do either. Whatever, if you didn't install it it shouldn't be there and needs uninstalling.
As an interim measure try Little Snitch to stop it's outgoing traffic.

I googled it and it's tough to discern what it really is doing, I can see its connected when I check it in my firewall and data is going out.
