Cinema Tools Can´t conform Ambarella 29,97 files

Hi there,

i have several hours of footage from one of these small helmet cameras that record movs with the ambaralla avc codec.

The files are 29,97fps. I would like to conform these to 25fps to edit in a 25fps project. (Avid)

But when i open (or batch conform) these files in Cinema Tools the conform button is greyed out (or the files are skipped).

Is there any solution to my problem? Do i need to update Cinema Tools or install some plugin or something?

I appreciate your help.

The footage needs to be converted from the GOP format that it currently shoots in. Since there are no real frames with GOP formats, Cinema Tools can't really convert.

Why are you using FCP tools for an Avid project?

You'd need to convert to ProRes, then use Cinema Tools. But note, 30fps to 25fps conform will change the speed of the clips...slow them down.

Thank you Shane,

i did not know this. I thought it was just another QT codec.

I know that it will slow down the clip. But since it is over 10 hours of material i thought it would be the best and fastest idea before linking the clips in Avid to transcode them there.

And Yes i use FCP tools for Avid projects, because we have both Avid and FCP in our company. I often get 50fps 7D clips and have to conform them to 25fps and Cinema Tools is the fastest way to do that.

So i guess i convert 10 hours then.

Thank you again.
