Yes ... download Digital Rebellion's FCS Maintenance Pack (15 day free demo) and open the project XML with the "XML Repair" tool, then from the menubar choose Tools menu > Convert XML Interchange Version ...

My old fcp studio 2 (fcp6) Mac is dead.

I can access the backup drives on a PC.

I can see the old fcp files

But now I have replaced said mac with a PC

and Premiere Pro CC

Is there a way to take an fcp and convert it to xml without

having fcp anymore, due to motherboard failure.

How many project files do you have? If it's just a few, I'd by happy to convert them for you (to both XML and .prproj).

You're going to need to find someone with FCP 6 or FCP 7 that can open the project files and export the XMLs for you.

You won't need the media for the process of creating the XMLs, but you obviously will need the media to relink to in Premiere.

I just came across your post offering to convert someone's fcp-files to something that is usable in Premiere Pro. I have only two fcp-files from a summer school on video making (using Final Cut Pro 7) this year. I was hoping to continue working on the footage at home but only realized now that I don't have the correct format to use them in Premiere Pro.
