At the moment, Pandora is not available for the AppleTV. Jailbreaking your AppleTV to get Pandora will void your warranty.
Well, Pandora said I could and so did the Apple person I bought my AppleTV and Airport Extreme from.
I'm sorry, I read your question wrong.
Yes, you can "stream" Pandora to your AppleTV.
You will need to enable AirPlay on both your AppleTV and the device or Mac that you intend to stream Pandora from.
Once AirPlay is set up successfully, you can stream by clicking/tapping the AirPlay button then selecting your AppleTV.
I've got iphone 4.2.1 and there is no Airplay. What about Airfoil on my Mac to stream from?
When you have music from Pandora playing, you can use AirPlay by double clicking the Home Button to open the multitasking bar.
Swipe to the right twice. You will know you are where you should be if you see a volume slider and the AirPlay button.
Tap the AirPlay button to choose your AppleTV.
I am researching AirFoil right now to assist you with your other question.
Using AirFoil, choose your audio source then the location you would like to stream to.
My AppleTV displays. Your AppleTV should as well.
When I choose AppleTV from Airfoil, it requires my AppleTV password, which I put in but it doesn't accept. It says it was incorrect. I put my password in the settings on AppleTV but Airfoil is not recognizing it.
Try using a different password or remove your password to use Airfoil.
Hey Matthew...You were very helpful yesterday. But ATV just not finding Pandora. I re entered password and Airfoil sees it. I have Pandora playing in Safari and have itunes on. Should I be playing Pandora from iphone App?
iTunes cannot stream Pandora, so having iTunes open would not affect the situation. Airfoil SHOULD work, so I'm not sure as to why this isn't working properly. I AM sure though, that Pandora will stream to your AppleTV via your iOS device. Hopefully that will work as it is supposed to.
My iphone is 4.2.1, I think it's too old or something because there doesn't seem to be Airplay anywhere on it. I do have Remote and Pandora Apps. Anything I need to know about them?
When I have Airfoil open on my Mac, what should I look for in my AppleTV menu? No Pandora shows up anywhere on the screen.
Okay, I have taken some time, installed everything fully, went through each process, and successful used both the iOS version of Pandora and the Mac application Airfoil to stream Pandora using AirPlay to my AppleTV.
Here is exactly what I did for both methods.
iPhone:
1) Open Pandora app
2) Select a song to listen to
3) Turn on my AppleTV
4) Tap the AirPlay button in the lower right corner of the Pandora application from the music screen.
I was also able to stream through AirPlay using the multitasking bar.
(Double-tap the Home button, swipe far left revealing the volume slider. The AirPlay button is to the right of the volume slider.
5) Select the AppleTV.
6) Turned up the volume using my TV remote.
Mac using Airfoil (Using Safari):
1) Open Safari (or your preferred application)
2) Choose a song to listen to from Pandora
3) Open Airfoil
4) Select "Other Application..." from the top drop down menu.
5) From the window that is brought up choose Safari (or your app).
6) Turn on the AppleTV
7) Click the Music Icon next to the AppleTV from the list of audio devices to stream to.
8) Click "Allow" if presented with the option.
9) Play the music from Safari or your app.
Let me know if you stumble on any of these steps and what step it was.
You are great to take so much time with me! Thanks!! #7 has me stumped. What music icon? what list of audio devices? I followed you up to that....(I just don't have Airplay on my iphone so I've eliminated that option.)
