IPOD DISABLED CONNECT TO ITUNES

My daughter tried to enter the incorrect password too many times and locked her ipod touch. The screen is showing ipod disabled connect to itunes. I have tried holding down the home button and home button at the same time until it powers on and it doesn't work. When connected to itunes, it gets the message that the ipod is locked with a password and can't connect. Any help?
