Is it ok to constantly delete metadata? Aren't they temp internet files??

Is it ok to constantly delete: Users/myname/Library/caches/Metadata/Safari/Bookmarks and History?

Aren't they basically temporary internet files??

I noticed them one day while cleaning out: Users/myname/Library/Caches/ com.apple.Safari/Webpage Previews.

I already try to Private Browse as much as I can remember to, and while in Safari, I'll Empty Cache but it doesn't seem to really clean temp internet files.

Thanks

As an Apple Certified Macintosh Technician I erase caches 5/6 times a day on customers' computers.

However, I would suggest users to refrain from manually deleting cache files (or using programs like cocktail or onyx).

A painless (and SAFE) way to do it is restarting the system with the SHIFT button pressed. The safe startup is slower, but cache files (from the user library) are erased by the OS.

The next MacOS 10.7 Lion hides the user's library folder, so it will be harder for people to mess with system files.

PS. try chrome's incognito mode if you need more privacy browsing, but don't forget google's search history... 😉
