yes you are right , it may damage ur iphone wit overheating , dont take risk .dont leave it for charging for too long.
yes its fine, unlike other devices that continuously charge even though they are fully charge, the iPhone will not charge if it reaches 100% battery
from experience, i have a radio with iPhone dock and i usually leave it there 'til morning, when i pick up the iPhone its cool, not warm like when it is charging

Actually, no lithium-ion battery is allowed to keep charging at 100%, because it would create a severe fire hazard. All li-ion batteries contain safety circuitry to prevent overcharge from ever happening. If a battery is warm, it's for other reasons.
It's fine to leave it plugged in all night.

This is incorrect. You can leave an iPhone plugged in as long as you want... the battery won't overcharge and it won't overheat.
