I can't seems to find the answer, so sorry for duplicate if so
I have an old good plasma, that's not broken and won't need replacing for a while. It has an s-video input only. Is there a cable /converter kit that will allow me to use the atv2 to output to s-video and audio to use on the plasma?
Not too bothered about video quality against hdmi, but just need to know if it will work, and how to do it.

Apple don't make one.
You will probably find something from a specialist electronic store or AV accessories store.
This would basically be an HDMI to S-video converter - as you say you would lose some quality in the process, the danger would be that if HDCP is not supported properly you might lose the ability for paid/protected content to be displayed. Video is one thiong and you'd also need a device that could convert the audio to an appropriate format for input (probably a pair on analogue jacks in) unless you are planning to hook audio up to an AV amp/reciever via optical.

Thanks AC for getting back quickly. I have an hdmi cable with composite, audio and an s-video connection on the other end ( worked on a WII games console) I haven't tried it yet as the setup is a miriad of cables and access is limited to simply get it and try it, so would this work, or not do you reckon...?

Only way to find out is to give it a go.
I didn't think the Wii had an HDMI connection but may be wrong, though it was a proprietary connector.

Yep, just found that out, !! Been under the stairs in the dark, playing with cables, dust, dirt n all, and pulled all and sundry out, and whoops, there it is, a NON hdmi connection. darn it.
So, before trundling off to the closed shops, is it worth trying online to see if someone does such a cable and believing the descriptions online if they state so?

I'd try to check out some customer reviews - if you're in UK I don't think this is the kind of thing you'd get off the shelf in PC World/Currys/Comet etc, maybe Maplin, Keene electronics.

No real interest in it to be honest, though my daughter has just dressed up in a princess costume and seems to be having great fun. Hope it goes well for them though, too much unpleasantness in the news around the world currently.
