THE FIX!!!

Here is how I fixed my ipad that was having this issue. After, you get the error on itunes saying that this ipad cannot be restored, what you do is you click ok. Then the ipad will restart and (as it should be in recovery mode) will show a itues logo on the ipad. Then on your itunes when the I pad is recognized you should have the option to restore and "update". What you do is update the device, rather than restoring it. Then, once, it is update. The Ipad will restart and again bring to the itunes logo. Then have itunes recognize the ipad and this time rather than updating, restore it and everything should work. It will restore you ipad with out the error. Worked for me. Hope this helps.

Guys,

I am facing simlar issue. Could you pls let me know if are able to solve your iPad issue. I also download the iPad2_2_4.3.2_8H7_Restore.ipsw and tried to Restore using shift-->Restore and selecting the downloaded file. Following sequence take place:

  • Extracting software
  • Verifying iPad information
  • Preparing iPad for restore
  • Waiting for iPad
  • Preparing iPad software for restore
  • Restoring iPad software

The iPad 'iPad' could not be restored. An unknown error occured(2).

At the end, i'm still not able to Restore my iPad. Pls not that the "Update" option is always disabled and therefore i only get an option to Restore which is not working.

FYI, i am using PC with WinXP Professional with SP3. iTunes latest version 10 and iPad 2 with Wi-Fi and 3G model in India.

Plzzzzz help.
