Frozen iPad

I just bought my iPad 2 a few days ago...had it all up and running, when it suddenly shut down as I was deleting gmail messages. It's totally frozen now. Holding the start button down for 20 sec does not work.

Is there a solution for this?

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content by doing it, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. Same thing happened to me about 6 months ago, and a reset got it working again.

I am not speaking for King Penguin but merely trying to put your mind at ease. The iPad screen can freeze from time to time. It has happened to me a couple of times in the six months that I have had it.

I would not be concerned about an occasional incident like you had but if it begins to happen with frequency - say three or four times each week - there may be a problem like a bad app or corrupt email that you will need to deal with. No need to fret.

Enjoy your new iPad2!
