iPad doesn't charge on wall charger?

Have you tried using a different cable? For example if you own an iPhone change out the cable (just the usb part) from your iPhone and give it a try. If that won't work, you may have a deffective unit and will need to visit your closest Apple store for a replacement. Also, just a note.......when plugged in through the USB of a computer, you will see a sign saying "not charging." Other's have noted that even though it says not charging, it is in fact charging, albeit at a very slow rate as the iPad takes more juice to charge up........

I am having the same problem. I got my iPad 2 yeterday and its now on 52% battery so I decided to charge it. I plugged it into my computer and it came up not charging. I then plugged it into the wall charger and it recognises that its plugged in but the battery level wont go up. It has the charging symbol in the to right but the level has dropped to 51%. I rang Apple and have restored it to Factory Settings but still the same problem. Looks like I will be giving an Apple store a visit tomorrow.

I´m having the same problem too with my 3 days old iPad 2. When I plug it to the wall charger, the battery doesn´t charge, but if I plug it to the iMac, in spite of the "not charging" message, thee battery seems to be charging. Maybe the problem is in the wall charger… What should we do?

Maybe we have a software problem? My iPad is now charging thorugh the iMac usb port, in spite of the "no charging" message… What do you think? What if we restore the system? 😕

I was just looking on Google and it seems to be a very common problem on the iPad. They are talking about 10Watts and 5Watt plug but i dont really understand. The place where it seems to be working is through a Mac but unfortunately I dont have a Mac.

The iPad will "Trickle" charge with a computer USB port when the screen is off. It needs a 10w wall charger to charge. Make sure you have a 10w wall charger (look at the label).

Most USB ports do not put out enough watts to charge the iPad like the wall charger that came with it.

I HAVE THE 10W CHARGER THAT CAME IN THE BOX BUT IT WONT CHARGE IT IN THE WALL CHARGER AND OTHER PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A 10W ADAPTER IN OTHER FORUMS

I have the original wall charger that came in the iPad box. The problem is that when I plug the iPad to it it doesn´t charge.

Then I agree it must be the cable or a bad charger. Time to call Apple, this is not normal behavior.

I made an experiment: If I use the iPhone charger with the iPad, it works, but if I plug the iPhone to the iPad charger, nothing happens, so it must be a bad charger problem. Calling Apple… 😠

I called Apple, went to the apple "Technichal support" service, they tried with another charger and it worked, so the problem is the cahger. They had the old one and I have to wait a couple of days for a new one. 😎

Just called Apple support and they said it could be a battery problem and that I'm to send my old one away and they will send out a replacement iPad. I will have to wait 3 weeks though.
