It doesn't appear to be a "White Screen of Death" because I can barely see the screen images. The phone is functioning with the exception of the color being almost gone. Any ideas?

Tapping the screen with 3 fingers 3 times rapidly worked immediately. As soon as I selected "none" for filter the colors came back, just like that. Very useful and easy tip for what looked like a worrisome problem. What a relief! Thank you.
Attempt a Hard Reset initially (Holding both the Home Button & the Sleep/Wake Button for 5-10s until you see an Apple Logo appear and then let go letting the iPhone boot up).
If this is not successful you will need to attempt to Backup & Restore the iPhone to Factory Settings to confirm if this is a Hardware fault or not.
If the issue is still present when the iPhone is at Factory Settings then this will confirm Hardware and you will want to either A) Contact Apple Support for Repair Options or B) Head into an Apple Retail Store
Have tried the hard reset and tapping screen with 3 fingers three times nothing works. The screen tapping does not bring up anything about filters. I note most of the replies were around middle of year since then we now have IOS 10 which I have on my iPhone 5. Has something changed can anyone help? This is driving me crazy. Arm987'
Use three fingers and tap screen with all three fingers three times go to choose filter and choose none. Hope this helps.
