Every time i try and update my iphone 3 it takes like 3 hours and then my internet is timed out can any one advise me on this?

ok ive just downloaded the latest itunes try and update my phone and it says 2 hours remaining is that the norm?
Yes. The reason for this is when you update your iPhone iTunes automatically makes a backup of all your settings. To try and cut down on this long backup time switch your phone on airplane mode as this will make iTunes not backup your network settings which is what is taking up so much time.
