Highlight text
Is it possible to highlight text in mail (not change color font)? Being a former PC user, I am mystified.
Thank you!

The trick is to create a highligthing style in TextEdit and then apply the hightlighting style in Mail
Open a new document in TextEdit
Type some text and use the background button to create a yellow background
In Format>Fonts>Styles press 'Add to Favorites'
Type a name for the style, for example 'Yellow Highlight'
Now switch to Mail and mark the text you want to highlight. Right click Font>Styles....
Now you can choose the 'Yellow Highlight' style in Mail
This works on Mountain Lion 10.8.2
Where is the 'Background Button' in Text Edit? I'm not seeing it.

Look at the menu bar of the first picture in my explanation. You'll notice a yellow button with the letter "a" - this is the background button.
Perfect and this is work for me too, but why Apple made it too dificult JUST CAN'T UNDERSTAND ! ! !
Thanks
I know this is an old discussion, but I just found it. :-) I've tried this method, but when
I follow Format>Font>Styles... I get no drop-down menu -- I get nothing. There's no way
for me to "Add to Favorites" because I have nothing. What am I doing wrong...?
Using Yosemite, TextEdit 1.10.
