Infinity Blade crashes on launchscreen

Hi.

I bought Infinity Blade approximately a month ago, and I cannot make it work on my iPad 1.

Each time I launch it, it crashes when the third launchscreen appears, the one with "Infinity Blade" and light effects.

It worked two-three times fluently the first days I bought it, but nothing more. Now it crashes everytime.

That's kind of annoying.

Especially because I installed it on friend's devices (iPad and iPhones) and it works great. Frustrating.

I didn't find any answer on the web. I hope to find one here, and if possible, not a "restore" advice.

Nope but, I found out a beginning of answer on the support page of the game :

http://www.epicgames.com/infinityblade/faq.html

Q: After I updated Infinity Blade, the game now shuts down when I try to load it. What can I do to fix this?
A: It’s recommended that you shut down Infinity Blade in the background before downloading and installing any update – double click the home button, then press and hold on the IB icon until the “-“ sign appears, then press again to shut down IB. If your recently-updated game is not loading, try these recommended steps, in order, until your game starts functioning again. WARNING: Deleting the App and re-installing is last resort, and will delete your game’s save file unless you first back up your iDevice phone on your computer through iTunes.

  1. Double click the home button, then press and hold on the Infinity Blade icon until the “-“ sign appears, then press again to shut down Infinity Blade – then re-start Infinity Blade.
  2. Shut down all other Apps running in the background, including Infinity Blade, then re-start Infinity Blade.
  3. Shut down and re-start your iDevice, then re-start Infinity Blade.
  4. Press and hold the Infinity Blade icon on the main menu, until the “X” sign appears, then press it again to delete Infinity Blade, confirm, then re-install Infinity Blade from the App Store or from iTunes on your computer - WARNING: this will delete your game’s save file unless you first back up your iDevice.

I can say that this quite worked for me some time. I deleted the game, downloaded it again, rebooted the iPad. And the game started once or twice. I was even able to play one multiplayer fight. And then the day after, it was crashing again. I retried every step. Without any result.

Hope you'll be luckier than me !

I had exactly same problem and nothing helped...

FAQ on Epic site didn't help either.

So, I found a solution but it's only for Single Player I'm afraid and for those cases when it fails on launch screen (where Infinity Blade appears after Epic logo).

Here is what you should try:

1) disable any internet connection you have (3G, Wi-fi)

2) when the Infinity Blade screen would show up it would display Run button in the bottom right corner BUT it would display it for just 2-3 seconds, so, make sure you click on it once it's displayed and you should be OK to go then.

Without disabling internet connections it would fail for me without displaying that run button at all and once disable it would display it for couple of seconds and I could click it and go from the place where I left last time..

Good luck.!

Ok I have a fix to the IB crashes after it crash at any point in the game I re launch as it starts the opening video I look for the second logo to view then I hold down the power button on the edge of the iPad as if to power down the power down will overlay the Infinity Blade screen mid video, next I wait a few seconds and select the cancel button, NOT the power switch! The Infinity Blade start video will freeze wait a few seconds and the round game start button will appear. Press the start button and it re starts the game at the last played finished point no lose of game data. Good luck.

Wow! After checking IB's useless support page, reseting my iPad several times, deleting several Gigs of memory from games and videos, using a background proces killer app that cost 99 cents, using a system core viewer app that cost $1.99, syncing my iPad, waiting patiently for game updates, and praying to ancient dieties, nothing had worked.
Yet here, in the middle of the internet with zero fanfare, I managed to run accross alfredfromlongbeach's post, and despite it sounding dubious, it worked. It actually, wholeheartly, and consistantly works. Which is especially great since I had a level 53 character that I didn't really feel like wiping by deleting and reinstalling the app.
Thank you, sir. It is much appreciated 🙂

Now, it would just be great if Chair could fix the glitch with an update; I'm sure there are plenty of people that won't be as lucky as I was to run accross your post. I love the game and Chair, but no matter how fun an app is, if no one can play it...

donnieRedboy- I had thought the same thing about maybe having too much on the iPad, but just deleting things didn't work for me. The trick doesn't work perfectly (and since my original post, I have actually had 2 crashes despite using the trick), but at this moment, it's the ONLY thing that works for me. IB2 crashes the same way for me, but I haven't tried to use the trick on it yet, so I can't verify if it would work, therefore your resistance to buying it is justified. CHAIR really needs to fix this as soon as possible.

Hope you manage to get the trick to work. Good luck.
