I purchased my iPad from a reputable retailer however it was a customer return and it did not have the original plastic on the package. I am concerned that the customer may have done a switch and returned an iPad in and iPad 2 box for a bigger refund. How do I know that my iPad is a 2 and not an original iPad?

If your Ipad is well used, the Model number on the back may be rubbed off...
Go to the Settings Icon > General > About > Regulatory
Right above the FCC logo shown is the Model Number.
Now open safari and go to http://support.apple.com/manuals/
Type the Model number of your Ipad (or any Apple product) in the search field.
Product Information and user guides for your model will be available if it's a legitimate Apple Device.
Did you find an answer to this? I'm about to install the non Rev A version of iOS 6 on my iPad 2 and I'd like to be sure I'm not bricking it since you can't restore back to iOS 5. Thanks!
I'm wondering about this as well. (Rev A vs. non Rev A) It appears to be a difference between the wi-fi only versions of the iPad 2's. I have an iPad 2 and I don't know which iOS to download. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
I installed the non Rev A version on my iPad 2 and it works fine.
My model #: A1395 (MC770C)
My Serial #: DQ*******FHY

Yeah, I was checking out the new 3D maps. Pretty cool. Without going into specifics I actually got a client request yesterday to build an app using the new maps features. Kinda interesting.
By the way is your handle from Ender's game? Just read that this year. Apparently they're making it into a movie with Harrison Ford.

Sorry everyone, I was confused when I was posting. Since I use a game development tool, not Xcode, I don't spend time on these or the apple developer forums, so I was confused about the location of this discussion and who could view it. I've spent a good while looking for a delete button, a contact to apple, or an edit feature, all of which are either nonexistant or difficult to find.
My 16GB A1395 iPad 2 wifi = mc769nf/a = rev a = iPad 2,4 (extra info on everymac)
They have different EMC numbers, EMC2415 (iPad2,1) and EMC2560 (iPad2,4) engraved on the back near the model number (both A1395). Rev A is 16 GB only, with a newer, smaller processor. Unfortunately, I do not know which is rev A. I am assuming it is the second, later model which I assume has the higher EMC and iPad2,X designators. So I can download the right iOS7 GM seed.
EMC2415 (iPad2,1) and EMC2560 (iPad2,4) = correct
MC979HC/A is this a rev. A model?
Summarizing my research into an easy way to be certain which iOS beta to install:
Settings -> About -> Model
iPad 2 WiFi (Rev A) will start with MC954, MC988, or MC989
iPad 2 WiFi will start with MC769, MC770, MC916, MC979, MC980, or MC981
