I have a iPhone 4 16GB, heres the story. Yesterday it was running fine but today it wont charge or sync anymore. But it does when battery is completely drained out. It also turn it self back on if i switch it off and plug it in to my Mac, i does charge using iPower (external battery) and if i plug my cable to iPower then connects the iPower to my iPhone, it shows that iPhone is charging and the iPower is charging via the USB cable too. But still refused to sync or charge directly from the USBs. I tried few different cables 2 original cables and 1 3rd party cables (which i normally dont use). When i tried to connect for the 4th time, it had a short circuit which cause my MacBook Pro 2011 shuts off. Luckily no damage, and the cable i was using was a original new apple cable. =( Ive tried restarting both Mac and iPhone, reset all settings of the iPhone. But cant do a restore since the iPhone dont sync. P/s my iPhone is not jailbroken...

iPhone 4, iOS 4.3.2

Yes. 16GB Pen drive and iPower works fine on the same port. Even iPod Touch does sync

Hmmm, I'd try to see if it can connect to another computer. Try the library, a public college, etc., just to see if it can do anything, to rule out the issue being your computer.

If it cannot connect to any other computer, then it'd be an issue with your iPhone.

Yeah, sounds like you shorted something in the phone itself. I'd take it to the Apple store now... :-(
