HRESULT.0x8007054f

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.

Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. Do they fail to install? If so, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 0x8007054Fs, or a different error code? If they're different, what codes are you getting in Windows Update?

The usual trouble that causes an 8000FFFF in Vista can often cause trouble with iTunes installs. A bit odd that you're only getting one update to fail with an 8000FFFF and all the rest are going in fine, though.

Just in case, we'd better try the standard technique (it's a fixit button) for the 8000FFFF on Vista in the following document:

WindowsUpdate error 8000FFFF

After running the wizard, try heading to Windows Update again. If Updates install for you, stock up on any you're behind on. Restart the PC if prompted to do so.

After stocking up and restarting the PC, try another install. Does it go through any better this time?
