Q: 17" 1.67GHz mouse freezing problem

I have this great powerbook, it is the last gen, Leopard 10.5.8 installed, 2GB RAM and has a dual layer superdrive and I love it.

I have a USB mouse that keeps freezing.  It happens about once a minute.  the mouse stops moving the cursor.  Track pad works fine, and when frozen, the mouse is able to do click events.

Any ideas? maybe just this mouse doesn't like Macs?

PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 1.67GHz, 17" Dual Layer Super Drive

Probably a rodent in its death throes.  A fresh mouse should solve the problem.  If cordless, put fresh batteries in as a test, then if that doesn't help, get a new mouse.

in Windows PC's it is fine.

More like an issue with OSX, or maybe my USB bus

What brand mouse?  If it is a Logitech, you should have Logitech Control Center installed as a Preference pane in System Preferences, which also loads a couple of kext files.  Other brands might need specific drivers loaded for full functionality or "good behavior" of the device.

I've had mostly good luck with mice over the years, with a couple of disastrous exceptions, like the wireless mouse that started causing kernel panics on my laptop as it was quickly keeling over.  That was fun.
