The volume on my iPad doesn't work ,it says on music to connect dock

When I try to listen to music on my iPad ,it doesn't have any volume..it's like it's mute n it says to connect dock connecter ..when the volume is up on the settings...and the same thing when I go to watch video on YouTube there no volume

iPad, iOS 4.3.2

My iPod did this very thing, after syncing it with iTunes the contrals magically came back.Try syncing with iTunes and see if that gives you your audio contrals back. Best of luck, I hope this helps.
