Aperture 2.1 won't accept pics after OS upgrade to 10.6.7

I recently upgraded my Mac to OS 10.6.7. Now Aperture 2.1 won't read all my picture from my camera card - only the first few. I get a message saying I did not eject the card properly - but I didn't eject it! Is this an upgrade problem? Will upgrade to Aperture 3 solve this? Any advice is appreciated.
