iPhone 4 Replacement Help

I have a black iPhone 4 and i have some problems with it so i rang apple and they said that they are hardware problems and to take it to a apple store and they should replace it. I just wanted to know if i will get a brand new replacement becuase my problems are MAJOR, and if they will replace my black iPhone with a white one? Has anyone done this with the iphone 4 or a previous iPhone?

Thanks,

iPhone 4, iOS 4.3.1

Write it in a normal font.

If you go to the Apple store and they determine that there is a fault in your device, they will most definitely replace you a replacement phone. There is no way to tell whether they are brand new or refurbish. Technically you really can't tell a difference between a brand new phone and a refurbish and they are much a like. You will never receive a replacement phone that has scratches or dints on them. Even Refurbs are clean. They install new glass, new battery and new stainless steel. Also all replacement phones are checked and tested thoroughly to ensure that all part is working before giving it out as a replacement phone. Brand new ones are hit or miss.

And to answer your other part...No Apple will not exchange from a Black iphone to White iPhone. If you want white iphone, you will have to purchase it again.

When you take the iPhone in to the Apple Retail Store for service they will first do an assessment on the iPhone (if there is any evidence of accidental/liquid damage there will be a charge - but they will tell you first).

When it comes to the actual replacement it will most likely be a remanufactured unit. But you will not be able to tell the difference between a brand new one and a remanufactured one. The battery, screen and case are all new. It just the internal components that they keep using.

You will not however be able to exchange it for a white iPhone.

Sorry for the big writting, but why should i get a refurbished phone? I paid 1099 for a brand new phone with extended warranty, and when i rang apple the guy told me that I have a big problem with the phone and its not what apple expects with the product so he said to go to the apple store or he'll send me a BRAND NEW phone in the mail. So do you think if i take my bo, phone and asceserios, they will give me a brand new one?

You can only ask. Though I can guarantee 99% of immediate replacements in an ARS are refurbished units. The only reason I can see you receiving a brand new replacement is if it was faulty within the 14 day return policy timeframe. Outside of that it will be a repair option (or replacement with a refurbished unit).

For the record, there is nothing wrong with refurbished units.

Because there is nothing wrong with a refurbished phone? As I said, if you're within the 14 day return policy time you may get a replacement. If you are not, then it will be a repair option, if you dont want the refurbished unit then you can just as easily get the phone repaired which will take longer.

Apple don't just hand out new phones willy nilly because there was an issue previously, I can't think of any company that does...

Yes, I understand, but im not in the 14 day period, but why should i recieve a refurbished phone when its apples problem they sold me a faulty phone? I really dont understand why? They can check the phone all they want, for any problems caused by me, but they wont find one, and also when i rang apple they said the problem with my phone will cost more than a brand new one to fix

Well the ONLY reason it would cost more money to repair is if the device was classified as Beyond Economical Repair. That is the Apple Repair Procedure to a T. Everything else is either covered by warranty and repairable / replaceable with a refurbished unit, or is Accidental Damage and at cost to the customer. If the device is Beyond Economical Repair you would know about it, which is usually only due to the device being in parts, the iPhone itself being completely submerged in liquid etc.

And you'd probably need to be a bit more specific in order to determine if the device itself is classified as BER.
